As I promised Yetti I would, I am now going to post this blog to catch those who still have my on their friends list or read this on my recent life events. So, here goes nothin'.

I am still working at the gas station, Sunshine Food Mart... rapidly approaching a year there. I'm pretty much the main night shift guy, the owner of the store goes to me with requests/problems/etc. Speaking of, the guy that onws the store is a crazy bastard who owns many, many guns, which he keeps in his office at the store. Anyway, I'm making decent money and working a reasonable amount of hours, though I have decided that Nacogdoches is full of some of the worst customers imaginable, and after a year of dealing with them I am starting to lose patience.

I am also still living in the Upton House in Nac - some of the residents have changed, however. Instead of Max, Dru, and Dan Keesee, we now have Dan Eldridge, Rabbit, and Sam. I do miss my boys, but it is nice having Rabbit and Sam and Dan living here. This morning we all had breakfast, because all of us sans Chris have our first class at 9:30 on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The house is still kind of in a state of transition, though, so it is a bit of a mess.

We have acquired a super-adorable kitten named George Washington, in honor of our most badass president. He and Gretchen (my mom's cat) are finally starting to get along.

Speaking of my mom, I flew out to Las Vegas last week to visit her and my brother. For some reason, the two of them are living up there, so I hadn't seen either of them in some time. However, they both seem to be doing rather well for themselves. My mom has a good job as a Senior Paralegal for a law firm, and my brother is working for one of the radio stations out there. I mostly just hung out with him, got drunk/high and went to casinos, but I got a good amount of quality time in with my mom though. I did not come out positive on the trip, but I spent less money than I had expected to, so no complaints there. I won $30 on one video poker machine at one point, and another time I turn 75 cents into 8 bucks.

But now I am back in the grind of school. This semester however is shaping up to be a lot of fun, and a lot of writing. Now that I have switched my major to the BFA program in Creative Writing, most of my classes are, go figure, Creative Writing classes. I am taking Intermediate Poetry Workshop, Intermediate Non-fiction Workshop, Elements of Craft, a class on Shakespeare, and (ugh) Spanish II. My classes are full of my friends though, so it shouuld be a good semester.

Finally, I should mention that I have been dating a girl named Alissa for two and a half months now, and I am very happy about it. It was an admittedly rough summer, as she was in Houston, but we managed to see each other enough times to survive. Buuuut, she's also an RA now that school is back in session, which also sucks. Turns out, being an RA eats up a whole lot of your time, especially when you are in a mostly freshman girls' dorm, with crazy visitation hours and limits on RAs leaving. Lame.

I suppose that is a good run-down of my life recently - the summer was largely just filled with working and taking summer classes, with an occassional road trip to New Orleans or visit from Alissa thrown in there. I'll try and update a little more frequently, but coming from me that is probably hard to believe. Anyway, until next time, adios.

Oh look, after two entries I grew lax in my updating almost immediately. SURPRISE!

Anyway, exciting times - Heidi and Doyle are getting hitched tommorow. I always love a good wedding. However, there are serious complications with our ride situation, as Dru is mine and Max's ride down to H-town, but he's staying til Sunday. This was not discovered by me until oh, like two nights ago, and I already have many plans and machinations set in motion that require me to be back in Nac as soon as possible. Thankfully Max is in the same boat of not wanting to stay that long, so we are working on finding somebody to drive us up or somebody to drive down and get us. Assuming that does happen, the Dans and I will be hitting up a strip club in Tyler on Saturday - yes, I'll be popping my strip club cherry OMG OMG OMG!

Are you feeling fine? Yes I feel just fine. At least today I do. Had my first short story for Creative Writing workshopped this week, and much to my delight, my group members seemed to enjoy my story. Considering how rushed I felt it was (and really, it was, I didn't sleep much that night), that makes me happy. After some reworking it might actually be really good. Of course, we'll see what ole John McDermott says about it.

Also related to Creative Writing, Cotten has discovered that if I switch my major to the Creative Writing program, I will only need TWO semesters of Spanish, as opposed to the FOUR I currently need. OH SWEET JESUS HALLELUJAH! Best news I've ever heard.

Anyway, I think that is all I've got for now. Everybody, enjoy your Easter or Passover weekend and all that, even if you're a Pagan, Satanist or Bokononist.

Mar. 22nd, 2006 @ 03:05 am Yay for updates.
Current Mood: awake
Tonight was a pretty good night, all things considered. I had a really fun night at work, surprisingly, working with Dan. Kendal and Kaylie came and visited for about two hours, as did Christin (I guess that's how she spells her name)... it was a fun, goofy time. And I just got back from IHOP with Chris and Kaylie. I was attempting to eavesdrop on people's conversations for my Creative Writing class (so we can learn about dialogue) but unfortunately the guys that sat behind us appeared to have stepped out of a time warp from a 1985 Metallica concert. They were incredibly boring.

I've been feeling fairly self-confident lately, it's a nice feeling. Not sure what it is really, but it's a good thing. There are a handful of various girls that come into work all the time on whom I have little work crushes, and some of them always seem pretty happy to see me and are really talkative and friendly - maybe that is part of it. Who knows. All I know is, they are an innocuous way to brighten my days without all the trouble of heartache or getting dicked around.

Anyway, I think that's all I got for now.

Mike Jaynes is blogging again. I am going to TRY and make a habit of this if I can, but everybody knows how successful I am at that.

Anyway, it's been months since I've updated, during which there has been a fun New Year's, a visit from Hannah and Alex, a new semester, two visits from Katrina and her friend Brittany (and lots of drama therein), and a whole lot of working. As far as the latter goes, I'm pretty much the go-to guy for the night shift, because everybody else sucks. Or did suck, until I got them to hire Dan Eldridge and Rabbit - so things are looking up. I've had a good bit of girl drama so far this semester, but I've moved past it at this point.

The semester's been a little rocky... I've been slacking. My Creative Writing class is awesome though, and I've found I actually enjoy writing poetry. SFA has recently been approved for a BFA in Creative Writing program, and I am thinking about switching into it for the Fall. It would certainly be more fun, at least, and it's not like a degree in English is that much more profitable.

I'm also taking a History of Rock class, which is really cool, even if Midgley is a complete nerd. I've gotten into Dylan a lot more than I ever was before because of it, so it's already been good in that regard.

I could certainly go into more detail about all of these things, but for now I'm just giving a glancing review of my life, so that I can jump back into it on a regular basis for those who I don't know, never speak to me or something.

For any of those doubting my ability to succeed here at SFA, with all the heavy drinking and hooker-fucking I've been doing, worry not your pretty little heads - I got a 3.563 this semester. Dean's List, baby! It could have been better if I had done a little more work, but that's what next semester is for.

Also, I'm working on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Yay!

I'm going to be riding into Kingwood with Chris D. and Max C. today at some point, so if you want to hang out at some point today try and get in contact with one of those two men, or Yetti... and maybe we will see each other. If not, have a happy Thanksgiving!

Current Music: Tracy Byrd - 10 Rounds with Jose Cuervo
Last night, the four amigos (Dru, Micah, Dan Eldridge and I) literally went 10 rounds with Jose Cuervo. It was beautiful, and I was trashed.

Also, I rolled my ankle which hurts immensely right now.

And I licked gay porn cock and saw Cotten's boobs. (Again)

Pirate parties are awesome. We have flags and sails and shit on the front of our house. People walked the plank. We jigged to pirate sea shanties. I declared my beer to be not alcoholic enough so I poured rum into it and drank it. I had to work at 8am the next day. We even sang Journey, and got attacked by Ninjas.
